Stop outsourcing your happiness. |
You complete me.
You make me happy.
You are my everything.
Imagine the language used in romantic relationships and the pressure it puts on our partners to fulfil the roles of 'completing' us.
We fall in love and then life hits us and catches us unaware. We carry childhood trauma, unresolved relationships with parent figures compounded by rejection, shame, guilt, regrets and grief into our relationship. All this without our knowing.
We project all this onto our partners. We believe that they will take away all of this pain, much of it that we are not even aware of. Worse, we don't know how to own or communicate this pain or hold space for someone else's. We start believing that we need to be completed. We believe that only someone else can make us happy.
To build a conscious healthy relationship, you need to heal yourself. Of all the unmet childhood love, the core beliefs of the years, the conditioning of the mind, the dogma, the limiting beliefs, the herd mentality.
And you need to take charge of your own healing. Don't wait for your partner to heal and complete you.
Your happiness is with you. Don't outsource it.
Heal yourself to create the most authentic work of your life.

Every form of ‘I tried my best’ is good enough. |
Waking up in the morning when you had nothing to wake up for is trying your best too.
Smiling at yourself in the mirror when you were low on self-love is trying your best too.
Making coffee for yourself when you could have hit the half-empty bottle of gin from last night is trying your best too.
Not being able to climb the mountain but taking two steps towards the top is trying your best too.
Not being called to create today but still choosing to show up against all odds is trying your best too.
Not showing up for a toxic relationship is trying your best too.
Fighting your demons but losing one game to them still means you tried your best.
Choosing to live up to no one's expectations and winning in bits and pieces is also trying your best.
Every baby step. Every show up. Every action for your self-love. Every act of faith over fear, love or hatred, kindness over apathy is trying your best.
Take it easy. Stop being hard on yourself. Just be. Forgive yourself. Start again.
Try your best. One little try at a time.
