Overwork your guardian angels. |

Take those little chances. The ones that cost nothing but are priceless. The ones that mean nothing to someone but the world to another. The little instances - thoughts of which keep you awake all night. The micro moments of bravery that if not acted upon now could become sorrowful tales of tomorrow, told with regret. Those little acts of kindness that seem like huge Everests to scale. Trust your guardian angels and throw yourself into their protective embrace as they guard you and guide you till your last breath, their last mission and the universe’s last light.
Throw yourself into the mosh pit and trust that the angels are close by. Send healing to an ex who needs it or send a love note to a potential lover you met at a party. Send in a request to the angels to become your messengers.
The guardian angels are up for all odd jobs too. They are as efficient in ratting out the demons of your past from their hiding places and slaying them as they are in helping you fish out nose boogers of your son with gloved hands in minus ten degrees. Peel that orange for a stranger in the metro who has her hands full with an infant, or chop that onion for the first time for your mum not knowing what it's like. The angel will hold your hand everywhere.
Compliment a stranger in the elevator as she manages her own ups and downs in life. Show a thumbs up to a cyclist as he pedals along the dirt tracks. Open doors for people behind you, give a seat to someone in the bus, share a meal with the office boy, give the driver a hug, leave a generous tip at the chai tapri, take off your jacket and give it to a homeless man, walk the dog for your neighbour, buy medicines for people in hospitals, donate blood when someone needs it, bake homemade treats for your maids and helpers. Your guardian angels will be watching over you, fighting every little resistance and the fear of judgement.

Celebrate your guardian angels. Where are they, you ask? Right around you, peeling oranges, chopping onions, complimenting strangers, egging on cyclists, opening doors, giving seats, sharing meals, leaving tips, taking off jackets, walking dogs, donating blood, baking treats and fishing out nose boogers.

The war against ego. Before it gets better, it gets worse. |

As one starts on a healing journey, or takes the first step on the spiritual path, all hell breaks loose. The demons send out smoke signals to warn other armies of the impending war against ego. Ego itself wears its designer armour and sends its most trusted generals - judgement, resistance and fear of the unknown to the battlefield. One, to take stock of the situation and make mockery of it, and second, to use the old-age inner narrative against you and negotiate a truce. It uses its own deceitful Chankayaniti and compels you to abort the mission.
And you do reconsider aborting as people start calling you foolish, selfish, idiotic, mindless, stupid, or brainless. They laugh at you. They mock you, even those whom you had written off, show up to reveal their karmic connections. You feel you are being left alone, supported by none, ridiculed by everyone, judged, unloved, and uninvited. You are on the verge of chickening out. You feel lonely. It seems like the dark night of the soul just got darker.
But something, far bigger than your separate self, far accomplished than the ego tells you to plod along. To keep walking the path, to keep turning one leaf after another till all the chapters are opened and closed. And as you think you've seen it all, read it all, a new book, totally out of the syllabus is thrown at you. To test you once more. The ego, feeling threatened with your slow and steady progress raises the decibel level and there is a deluge of cuss words invoking every weakness in you, every soft spot that hurts you, every answer is questioned again. It's a full-blown war now.
No one is on your side. Except your guardian angels who've brought along the weapons of mass destruction to annihilate the ego. Your ancestors come riding on beautiful unicorns as your backup army. Your guides and gurus cover your back. Your gnomes, cherubs and angels start decorating the city to welcome you back home after your victory. Your soul mates plan the reunion with cocktails of heavenly elixir.
