  Be trigger happy.

  mark

Someone made you angry, resentful, insecure, sad, guilty? Being triggered in an inside job and avoiding those triggers or those people who 'bring the worst out in you' doesn't help. In fact, be grateful that those who trigger you are creating an opportunity for you to find what you believe is the 'worst' in you.

Avoiding your triggers is not healing. Healing happens when you become a non-judgemental witness to the trigger and you are able to move through the pain, the pattern, the story and write a different ending.

Anger is one of the triggers for self-inquiry. To open the floodgates and help you walk into yourself and throw light on your insecurities, guilt, sadness, embarrassment, shame, resentment, jealousy and fear. Work with anger to integrate your shadow self and bring it into consciousness.

When triggered, be Sakshi - the witness. The witness to the, let's say, the anger, but don't 'become' the anger. Don't react. Ask yourself what you are feeling. Give the feeling a description than just a word such as good, sad, bad, angry. Sit with yourself and allow yourself to feel the feeling. Soon enough the feeling will move out of your emotional body. When it does, ask yourself if you have felt this feeling often. If yes, it is probably a pattern, and a repetitive pattern is always a desperate call to heal. The next question to ask is, when was the first time you felt like this. This is not an easy one to answer but it will invariably lead you to a childhood memory, trauma or experience. Once you find it, rewrite the experience of the experience, face the truth not the belief, integrate your shadow self and heal yourself.

Healing happens when you address the source of the trigger, resolve and release it. Then the trigger stops being the trigger. Be trigger happy. Allow.

A life transformation program.

Showing up needs courage. And courage comes only when you show up.

  mark

One day when you show the courage to show up to speak your truth, live a life of joy and honour your purpose, you sit at your desk invoking all the gods, devatas and angels. And with the gods also come tagging along the demons of yourself worth who wear the garb of resistance and nudge you away from your purpose.

Resistance. The inglorious bastard. The ruthless scoundrel. The slayer of passion. The mutilator of dreams.

Mercury is in retrograde, it says, so ideas won't come that easy and you will flounder and fail in the first hundred words itself.

The new movie is releasing, book the tickets before you start, says resistance. Or go for a run first. Get those endorphins to run amok before you let your creative juices flow.

Writing always flows better in white light. Order a new bulb first before you start writing. Start the project in summer, you'll be able to wake up earlier. Or start the new business in October. The Diwali season will give a good push to sales.

Resistance tries every trick to keep you off track and when you show the courage to keep sitting there nonchalantly sharpening your pencil, resistance starts sharpening its nails to come back with more scathing retorts.

All this while, the blank canvas or the pristine white paper stares at you and without your knowing it transmorphs into a mirror that shows you the hidden parts of you.

It shows you your fears. It shows you your insecurities. It shows you those moments in time when you were ridiculed for what you created and tells you, rather slyly, that, that day will repeat again. It tells you that you've run out of ideas and your best work is behind you. It tells you that inspiration has found new playmates, and you will be stood up and ghosted by the muse your entire life.
